The Art of Being Normal

Celebrity culture. Lifestyles of the rich and famous – the money, the fame, the seemingly effortless way of life. 💰 That glamor and glory we caught glimpses of here and here. My, how times have changed. Thanks to the media and the so-called  truths we are witness to, might the very notion of celebrity status actually be a turn-off? 👀

Gone are the days when big stars could move mountains. The fans of Julia Roberts, the Toms (Hanks and Cruise), George Clooney, now older, grayer. Audiences of today seek out “accessible” stars of TikTok and YouTube. 🖥 Influenced now, by actual influencers. And kids have jumped on the bandwagon in alarmingly full effect. 😳

Fame in the past had some mystery. The mystery is what seduced us. ☝🏽

Their lives are better than ours.

But cracks come in, and what can easily follow is disintegration. When sordid, ugly intimacies are revealed, the public no longer wants to be like said celebrity.

Will Smith hits Chris Rock.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck get engaged.

Britney Spears is pregnant. But then not.

Another Kardashian gets divorced. Or has a baby.

Who cares? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Social media influencer Gabby Petito’s perfect relationship isn't so perfect after all. Ending in her finance murdering her.

What is the cost of staying relevant in modern times?

Following the Johnny Depp trial of last year, we saw firsthand their ugliest moments up close and personal. 🪞

The feelings it leaves us with are far from seduction and want. 🙅🏻‍♀️

Where once it was argued that they are just like us – they do laundry, they take their kids to school, they exercise and pay their bills – that admiration can quickly turn to pity. 😞

The comfort and security we can feel being normal, everyday people is no small thing. 🙏🏽
