Love Life Season 1 ❤️

Binging over these pseudo-lockdown days, meant discovering the gem that is Love Life on Crave TV/HBO. 📺 Season 1 starts out light, surrounding dating in the modern world. Then foraging into quite heavy territory, but in a most appealing manner. How we experience love in our childhood, and everything we go through as teens is always bound to catch up with us – every relationship we enter, stained by the past. 😞

Anna Kendrick is phenomenal, as a single gal looking for meaning and direction. She and her friends make their way into adulthood, and we see the trials and tribulations — in life and love – they face along the way. With a strong supporting cast, particularly her mother, played by Hope Davis, and Zoe Chao as best friend Sara, Love Life is worthy viewing. 💯

Much of what we do is propelled by self-interest. We want to be happy. Feel fulfilled. Find connections. Make our mark on the world. And ultimately, we love because we want love.

But love comes in so many forms. The love of a parent. A best friend. A child. And while self-love is something we may not automatically have, we certainly can learn to have it. The world has so much to offer. 🌎 We look for jobs that give us purpose. We build relationships and take risks with our hearts. We let people in. We let people out. And yes, we literally “fall” into love. It can empower us, and build us up. It can also tear us down. But if it’s a good love, we continue to grow within it.

And maybe when we meet our person, if there is such a thing, it’s “contrary to many of [our] expectations”….maybe we don’t “feel like a whole new person, at long last fixed by the perfect partner…”

Maybe we don’t “feel fireworks or hear some loud marching band…” 🤷🏻‍♀️

Perhaps instead it is “quiet and calming and still.” 🙏🏽

Within all the madness and chaos that is life, that sounds absolutely perfect. 🙋🏻‍♀️
