Chatting with my best friend yesterday, we discovered we both experienced a bad day this week. Sharing said feelings prompted the question of the day: how do we find the good? š¤
The actual topic we were speaking of was The Daily (podcast) by The New York Times ā the episode in question, on Ukrainian leader Zelensky, and his rise to power. What a story! š
Podcast aside (highly recommended!), when things are not going our way, how DO we get to the good things?
ā”ļø That night, my husband shared a timely quote, as we recapped our days:
āEvery day something good happens: something works out well, quickly or easily; some pleasant surprise occurs; something interesting happens; a minor victory is achieved. Be sure to share your āsomething goodā [with family, children, each other] to know that life works out nicelyā¦modeling the positive mindsetā and helping those around you āto achieve that for themselves.ā - Sara Chana Radcliffe
MY pleasant surprise today is about the novel I am reading aloud in class: Judy Blumeās Blubber. š Two grade 5 girls are in trouble and have to rake their neighbor's yard one Saturday. š Punishment for putting raw eggs in his mailbox on Halloween night because they considered him grumpy and mean! As the hours pass, both girls need to pee but are mortified to ask the man to use his bathroom. Right there, in his yard, hidden by all his trees, they both go pee. š³ My students were in stitches, laughing hysterically at this. What fun we had! š„°
Instantly as a group we were bonding, and forgetting about all the baggage we carry with us. š§³ š All the heaviness in the world. š We were happy.
Thank you Judy Blume. šš½
Find the good. Even if itās a cuddle from your fur baby. š¾
Whatever it is.
And share it. We all need some good right now. š
I listened to that podcast. I actually listen to the Daily regularly. Glad you got some feel good vibes from Judy Blume. Love you Nina!
